Housed in the Nebraska Biocontainment Unit (NBU) at UNMC, Omaha — 1 of 16 Americans at UNMC (15 in quarantine unit, 1 in biocontainment). HHS confirmed positive result. This is the first American PCR-confirmed case of hantavirus linked to the MV Hondius outbreak. Note: Fox5 Atlanta initially suggested PCR-positive patient was transferred to Emory; ABC News/UNMC clarified the positive patient remains at UNMC biocontainment, while the 2 patients transferred to Emory are a symptomatic (PUSRESPTC01) and asymptomatic (PUSEMORY01) couple.
